BHOPAL: After Jhabua and Sehore,
United Nation's
women empowerment project was on Saturday launched in
Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh (MP).
Panchayat, rural development and social development minister, Gopal Bhargava inaugurated the project at the auditorium of famous Dr Hari Singh Gour University in Sagar and informed that UN was running such activities in five south-asian countries.
Apart from MP, the UN's women empowerment projects is being implement in five other states- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Orissa and Rajasthan, he added.
With the launch, skills of women to make them financial self-sufficient and strong would be developed, officials said. Functions to educate women of their political rights with the success stories of women politicians are going to be organised across Sagar - a district of improvised Bundelkhand region of MP, officials said
Furthermore, different mediums of communication would be used to spread awareness about women rights and other issues like - family welfare, maternity and child health, officials said.
The project, officials feel would give a boost to Panchayat Raj system given that more women become a part of it in the rural areas.
